Common questions
How do I read a Nexleds number like NX-4ES04-9W-5CCT-NL?
NX is the brand prefix, the number that follows is the aperture in inches, the next block is the housing series, then wattage, then the colour selection. 5CCT means five selectable Kelvin settings and 3CCT means three. Codes at the tail carry the build and finish, with FR marking the fire rated version and WH or BK the trim colour.
Slim pot light or gimbal, what is the difference?
A slim pot light sits flush and throws light straight down, which suits general ceiling coverage. A gimbal tilts, so it can aim at a wall, a stair or artwork. Floating gimbal versions recess the aiming ring for a cleaner ceiling. Cut-out size still governs both, so measure the hole before you pick.
When do I need the 2-hour fire rated potlight?
Where the light goes into a ceiling assembly that carries a fire resistance rating, the fixture has to be one tested for that use, otherwise the cut-out undermines the assembly. The FR listings are built for that case. On an ordinary unrated ceiling the standard slim housing is fine. Confirm the assembly from the drawings or with the inspector.
Can a 5CCT panel be dimmed?
Panels and many downlights here are listed dimmable, which means the driver accepts a dimming control, but the wall dimmer still has to be compatible with LED drivers. Colour selection and dimming are independent functions, so moving the CCT switch changes nothing about dimming. Read the dimming note on the listing before you buy controls.
