About this category

Push buttons are the pilot devices operators press to start, stop or jog a machine, wired back to contactors and starters inside the control panel. This page covers momentary and maintained push button switches for panel and enclosure mounting, mostly Techspan units in the common SPST and SPDT configurations.

  • Momentary normally open and normally closed contacts
  • SPDT and SPST bodies in square, rectangular and round plunger styles
  • On off and on on maintained versions for selector duty
  • Panel cutout and contact rating are listed on each product page

Match the contact arrangement and voltage rating to your control circuit before ordering. Orders over $150 ship free across Ontario and Quebec, the rest of Canada gets 10% off at checkout, and pickup is available at our Vaughan counter. We price match.

Push buttons are the operator devices on a control panel that start, stop or jog a machine through contactors and starters wired behind the door. This page covers complete units plus the parts that build them: 30mm metallic e-stop heads with twist release, flush and projecting actuators for illuminated LED buttons, legend plates in 60mm and 90mm, contact blocks in 1 NO 1 NC and 2 NC arrangements, and quick connectors. Order by panel cutout diameter first, then contact arrangement, then whether the button is illuminated. Most Techspan pieces here sit between $2 and $16.
Common questions
What does 1 NO 1 NC mean on a contact block?
It describes the contacts stacked behind the button. NO is normally open and closes when pressed. NC is normally closed and opens when pressed. A start button usually uses NO, a stop button uses NC, and a block carrying one of each handles both functions from a single mounting position.
How do I choose a legend plate size?
Legend plates mount around the actuator and carry the wording. The round plates stocked here come in 60mm and 90mm diameters for emergency stop marking. Measure the existing plate or the hole pattern in your enclosure door first, since a plate cut for one pattern will not line up on another.
Are these emergency stop buttons suitable for a safety circuit?
The metallic e-stop head is a 30mm twist to release device, the standard action for a latching stop. Whether it satisfies a given safety circuit depends on the contact block, the wiring and the risk assessment for that machine. Check the manufacturer datasheet against your control scheme before building it in.
Can these be shipped, or do I have to come in?
Either works. Pilot device orders ship Canada-wide in roughly 3 to 7 business days, free to Ontario and Quebec once the order passes $150, with 10% off at checkout for the rest of Canada. Counter pickup at 8520 Jane St in Vaughan runs weekdays 8am to 4pm, closed weekends.
Does the button come with a contact block included?
Not always. Actuators, boots, plungers and legend plates are sold separately from contact blocks and body assemblies, which is normal for panel hardware and lets you rebuild an existing station piece by piece. Read the product title and description to see exactly what is in the box before ordering.
