Common questions
What's the difference between occupancy and vacancy sensors?
Occupancy sensors turn lights on automatically when you enter and off when the space empties. Vacancy sensors need a manual on but switch off automatically — often preferred for bedrooms and energy codes.
Are motion sensors line-voltage or low-voltage?
Both exist. Wall-switch sensors are usually line-voltage and wire in like a switch — many require a neutral. Ceiling sensors often run low-voltage through a power pack. A licensed electrician can confirm your wiring.
Will a PIR sensor detect through glass or around obstacles?
No — passive infrared (PIR) sensors need a clear line of sight and cannot detect through glass or partitions. For obstructed spaces, choose ultrasonic or dual-technology sensors instead.
