Common questions
How do I pick the right butt connector size?
Butt connectors are colour-coded by wire gauge: red for 22-18 AWG, blue for 16-14 AWG, yellow for 12-10 AWG. Match the connector to the conductor size and crimp with the matching tool position.
Are crimp splices allowed in house wiring?
Splices in building wiring must be made inside accessible boxes with approved connectors. Whether a crimp splice suits your application depends on the installation — confirm with a licensed electrician and the CEC.
What's the difference between insulated and non-insulated terminals?
Insulated terminals have a built-in sleeve, so no extra covering is needed after crimping. Non-insulated terminals are bare metal and need heat shrink or tape — common where space is tight or heat is high.
