Restrooms with stalls and open offices with cubicle walls are where single-technology sensors leave people sitting in the dark. The Intermatic IOS-CMP-DT-U is a commercial-grade, line-voltage ceiling occupancy sensor that combines passive infrared (PIR) with ultrasonic detection, so it can hold lights on around partitions and during small movements. It runs on 120/277 VAC, covers 360° from an 8 to 11 ft ceiling, and switches the load directly with no separate power pack.
Why electrical contractors pick it
- Dual technology (PIR plus ultrasonic) cuts false-offs in partitioned spaces.
- Line voltage 120/277 VAC, so no power pack is needed on typical lighting circuits.
- 360° coverage up to 1,600 sq ft PIR and 1,000 sq ft ultrasonic.
- Adjustable time delay from 5 seconds to 30 minutes and an ambient light override from 10 fc to daylight.
- Zero-crossing switching for long relay life; works with LED, fluorescent, CFL and incandescent loads.

Pro tip from the counter
Keep the sensor away from HVAC supply diffusers and exhaust fans. Moving air can register on the ultrasonic side and hold the lights on in an empty room, so on a T-bar ceiling pick a tile a few panels away from the diffuser instead of the one next to it.
Best for: multi-stall washrooms, cubicle offices, libraries, storage rooms, waiting rooms, energy code lighting retrofits
