An outdoor receptacle with a cord left plugged in, such as a pond pump, seasonal lighting or a block heater, needs a cover that stays closed around the cord. The Intermatic WP7000G is a low-profile, extra-duty in-use weatherproof cover for single-gang boxes, made of grey UV-stabilized polycarbonate. It mounts vertically or horizontally and includes a gasket, mounting screws, base, cover assembly and inserts for eight configurations.

Whichever way the box is turned, mount the cover so the cord exit points down. Installed with the cord slots facing up, the cover channels rain straight onto the receptacle face instead of shedding it.
