A half-inch hub Spiro-Grip cord connector for cable between 0.38 and 0.75 inches, screw-machined from steel with a zinc plating and a neoprene grommet. Techspan lists CSA file LR 49636 and UL file E105706 against this Spiro-Grip range, and prints the cable diameter on the part label.
Why the old description says non-metallic and the manufacturer says steel
This product carried a legacy short description reading "spiro non-met" for years. Techspan's own product data lists the material as steel, zinc plated, with a neoprene grommet and screw-machined fittings. If you are specifying by material — a non-metallic entry for a grounding or corrosion reason, for instance — this is not the part you want, and we would rather correct the record than let you find out on site.
What it is good at is being small. The Spiro-Grip body is compact compared with a conventional strain-relief connector, which matters when a row of entries has to fit across a narrow gland plate. The trade-off is that the sizing is on the cable, not the hub: the half-inch hub covers a 0.38 to 0.75 inch jacket and nothing outside it.

Pro tip from the counter
Keep these in the bag until you are at the gland plate. The cable diameter is printed on the fitting itself, and once a handful of loose grips are rattling around in a pouch the only way to tell a .38-.75 from a .20-.47 is to put a cable through each one. Two minutes of sorting on the bench beats pulling a finished entry apart because the jacket is weeping past an oversized grommet.
Best for: panel shops and OEM builders fitting rows of cable entries on a narrow gland plate where a full-size strain relief connector will not fit the spacing.
Common questions
Is this cord grip metallic or non-metallic?
Techspan lists the material as zinc-plated, screw-machined steel with a neoprene grommet. Despite the legacy short description on the old listing, it is a metal fitting.
What cable diameter does it grip?
It is the 0.38 to 0.75 inch version of the half-inch hub Spiro-Grip, so a jacket outside that band will not be gripped or sealed correctly by the grommet.
Is it approved for use in Canada?
Techspan lists CSA file LR 49636 and UL file E105706 against this Spiro-Grip range, which are the file numbers you quote on a submittal.
Do I need a separate locknut?
The half-inch hub threads into a knockout or a tapped hub, so you need the matching locknut if the enclosure wall is not already tapped. Techspan does not list one as supplied with this part number.
