About this category
Connecter, gérer, contrôler
Techspan supplies termination, wire management and industrial connection hardware, and this is one of the deepest catalogues on the site: crimp terminals and ferrules, copper lugs, cord grips and Teck connectors, wire duct, cable ties and pin and sleeve devices. Most of it is bought by size rather than by brand. Ferrules and terminals go by conductor gauge and stud or tab size, cord grips by cable outside diameter range, and lugs by conductor size, hole count and bolt diameter. Measure the cable itself instead of working from the conduit size.
Common questions
How do I pick the right Teck connector or cord grip?
Match two numbers: the trade size of the fitting and the cable outside diameter range it grips. A listing reading 1/2 inch with a .525 to .650 inch range takes a half inch knockout and clamps cable inside that OD band. Measure the actual jacket, because two cables of the same conductor gauge can differ in diameter.
What do the colours on insulated crimp terminals mean?
Colour follows the conductor gauge range. On standard ring and spade terminals, yellow covers 12-10 AWG, blue covers 16-14 and red covers 22-18. Insulated ferrules run a separate colour scheme by gauge, which is why the number 14 twin ferrule here is blue. Crimp with the die matched to the terminal rather than judging by eye.
IP44 or IP67 on pin and sleeve devices?
IP44 is splashproof and suits sheltered indoor or covered locations. IP67 is watertight and is what belongs outdoors, in washdown areas, or anywhere a connector could sit in standing water. Past the IP rating, match amperage, voltage and pole and wire count, since a 4P 5W device will not mate with a 3P 4W one.
Are Arctic Ties different from ordinary cable ties?
They are made to stay flexible and hold in cold, which matters on outdoor and refrigerated work where standard nylon goes brittle and snaps. They are listed by length, tensile rating and pack quantity, so a 14 inch tie rated 80 pounds comes 100 to a pack. Indoors, plain nylon ties are the cheaper choice.
Terminals come in packs. How does that work on an order?
Most terminals and ties are priced per pack of 100 or 250 and the pack quantity sits in the product title. Bulk termination orders clear the $150 free shipping line for Ontario and Quebec quickly, while other provinces take 10 percent off at checkout. Canada-wide transit is 3 to 7 business days, or collect at 8520 Jane St in Vaughan.
