Klein wire-pulling tools get conductors from A to B: steel fish tapes for short conduit runs, fiberglass and nylon for longer pulls and energized environments where steel is a hazard, plus fish poles, pulling lube and wire grips for heavy feeders.
Common questions
Steel, fiberglass or nylon fish tape, which should I use?
Steel is stiff and cheap, and best for short rigid-conduit pulls. Fiberglass is non-conductive and slick, which suits longer pulls and work near energized gear. Nylon is the most flexible and will not damage existing conductors, making it the choice for retrofits in occupied panels.
Do I need pulling lube?
For anything past roughly 30 feet or with multiple bends, yes. Wire-pulling lubricant cuts pull tension dramatically and prevents jacket damage. Match the lube to the conductor jacket type, since not all lubes are safe on every insulation.
What is a Klein wire grip used for?
Wire grips, sometimes called Chicago or Haven's grips, bite onto a conductor without crushing it, letting you tension a feeder during a pull, a splice or a support hang. Match the grip's AWG range to your conductor size.
