About this category

HTM Sensors builds industrial proximity and photoelectric sensors, and Maple Electric Supply sells the line in Canada for automation and machine-guarding work. Three SKUs are listed here, covering metal target detection, extended range sensing and optical part detection on conveyors and assembly cells.

  • CCM1-1808P-ARU4 M18 inductive proximity sensor with PNP output, from $113
  • LCM1-1206P-ARU4 long range proximity sensor, from $53
  • RP74 photoelectric sensor, from $50
  • Other HTM part numbers can be quoted over the phone at (905) 553-7171

Sensors are small parts that hold up an entire line, so most buyers add a spare to the order. Orders above $150 ship free to Ontario and Quebec addresses, other provinces get 10% off applied at checkout, and delivery anywhere in Canada runs 3 to 7 business days. Counter pickup is available at 8520 Jane St in Vaughan, ON, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Every price carries a match guarantee.

HTM Sensors makes industrial proximity, photoelectric and capacitive sensors used in machine control and automation. The range here starts around $50 for a photoelectric sensor and runs to roughly $114 for the CCM1 series capacitive sensor. Selecting a sensor comes down to what you are detecting and how far away it sits: inductive proximity sensors detect metal only, capacitive sensors detect non-metallic material including liquids and granules, and photoelectric sensors work at longer range across a gap. Check sensing distance, supply voltage and output type against your controller before ordering, since these are not interchangeable.
Common questions
What is the difference between inductive, capacitive and photoelectric sensors?
Inductive proximity sensors detect metal only and work at short range. Capacitive sensors detect non-metallic material such as plastics, liquids and granules. Photoelectric sensors use a light beam and work at much longer range. Choose by target material first, then by distance.
How do I know which output type I need?
That depends on the input card or controller the sensor connects to. PNP and NPN outputs are not interchangeable, and neither are normally open and normally closed contacts. Check your controller documentation, and if you are unsure, send us the model number and we will confirm.
Does sensing distance change with the target?
Yes. Published sensing distance is a rated figure measured against a standard target. Smaller targets, different materials and off-axis approach all reduce the effective distance. Specify with margin rather than at the rated maximum.
Can you source HTM models you do not list?
Often, yes. Send the manufacturer part number to sales@mapleelectricsupply.ca or call (905) 553-7171. We regularly source items in lines we carry even when they are not listed on the site.
How do sensors ship?
Canada-wide from our Vaughan warehouse, typically 3 to 7 business days in transit. Orders over $150 ship free across Ontario and Quebec, and orders elsewhere in Canada receive 10% off at checkout. Counter pickup is available Monday to Friday.
