What is the difference between a body belt and a fall-arrest harness?
A body belt is a work-positioning device that holds you in place at a pole or structure so both hands are free. It is not rated to arrest a fall. Arresting a fall requires a full-body harness that distributes the force across the thighs, chest and shoulders, connected to a shock-absorbing lanyard and a rated anchorage point.
How do I size a body belt or harness?
Sizes here are stated as actual ranges, for example 38 to 46 inches, not as generic small or large. Measure the wearer rather than guessing, because a belt that is too large will not hold position and one that is too small cannot be worn safely. Harnesses are sized medium through XX-large.
What does a deceleration unit do?
It absorbs energy during a fall by tearing or deploying in a controlled way, reducing the arresting force transmitted to the body. Connecting a harness to a fixed lanyard with no energy absorber can cause serious injury even when the fall is stopped.
Which lens tint should I choose for safety eyewear?
Clear for indoor and general work, grey for bright outdoor sunlight, amber for low light and overcast conditions where contrast helps, and espresso for a middle ground outdoors. All must meet the impact standard required for the work, which is stated on the product page.
