Weight: 1.1 lb

The Intermatic WP5000C is a low-profile, extra-duty in-use weatherproof cover with a clear lid for single-gang outdoor receptacles. At 2.25 in deep it sits close to the wall, closes over a plugged-in cord, and mounts vertically or horizontally. Intermatic lists the colour as clear and grey, and it has a reinforced hinge and a hasp that takes a standard padlock.

Why electricians pick it

  • Rated extra-duty by Intermatic, with a reinforced hinge pin designed to exceed a 40 lbf hang test.
  • Impact tested at 12 lbf; UV-stabilized polycarbonate, cold-impact tested to -51°C (-60°F).
  • Lockable hasp accepts up to a 1/4 in (6 mm) shank.
  • 2.25 in low profile; mounts vertically or horizontally.
  • cULus certified; UL certified for Type 3R outdoor enclosures.

Pro tip from the counter

Choose clear over a GFCI receptacle. The homeowner or maintenance tech can see the GFCI's status indicator and whether it has tripped without opening the lid, so a dead outdoor outlet gets diagnosed through the cover.

Best for: GFCI receptacles outdoors, residential patios and garages, commercial exteriors needing a low-profile cover, service replacements
