Every factory PVC elbow on a conduit run is another joint to glue and another fitting to buy. The Rack-A-Tiers Pipe Viper 58125 is a spring bender sized for 1-1/4 in Schedule 40 PVC: slide the spring inside the pipe and it supports the wall through the bend so the conduit doesn't kink or flatten. At this size Rack-A-Tiers calls for external heat along with the spring.
Why electricians pick it
- Internal spring holds the pipe's inside diameter through the bend, so wire still pulls easily.
- Cuts down on factory fittings and glue joints for offsets and sweeps.
- 36 in spring length for working bends back from the pipe end.
- Sized for 1-1/4 in Schedule 40 PVC; not for Schedule 80.
- Part of the Pipe Viper family, which also covers smaller sizes that can be bent cold.

Pro tip from the counter
Tie a length of pull cord to the end of the spring before you slide it in. Use tape marks on the cord to put the spring exactly at your bend mark, then pull it back out once the bend has cooled; the cord saves you fishing for the spring inside a long stick.
Best for: exposed PVC conduit runs, offsets at boxes and panels, farm and commercial PVC work, service risers, electricians cutting down on factory elbows
