A pool with a booster or cleaner pump needs the two pumps scheduled together, the heater protected, and the plumbing kept moving on a cold night. The Intermatic PF1222TB1 does all of that in one outdoor panel: two 24-hour mechanical time switches (filter pump and cleaner pump), a fireman switch for heater protection, a freeze protection thermostat and a breaker base, in a Type 3R beige metal enclosure. The panel is rated 60 A, 120/240 V.

Why pool electricians pick it

  • Filter and cleaner time switches are interlocked, so the cleaner pump can't run unless the filter pump is running.
  • Fireman switch shuts the heater off 20 minutes before the filter pump stops, letting water cool the heat exchanger.
  • Freeze thermostat turns the filter pump on when air temperature drops below the setpoint (adjustable 33 to 42°F).

Pro tip from the counter

Intermatic's manual calls for mounting this control at least 3 m from the inside edge of the pool in Canada (5 ft in the US) and 30 cm above ground. Measure that out before trenching conduit to the equipment pad, since the pad itself is often closer to the water than that.
