Stripping scrap wire by knife for recycling is slow and hard on hands, and burning insulation isn't an option. The Rack-A-Tiers Easy Stripper (47020) is a bench-mounted wire stripper powered by an ordinary cordless drill: the drill turns the feed rollers and a blade scores the insulation so it peels off. It handles 14 AWG to 4/0 AWG and is meant for light use by electricians and small shops recovering copper.
Why electricians pick it
- Runs off a standard drill, far cheaper than a motorized stripper.
- Strips 14 AWG to 4/0 AWG wire and cable.
- Once set for a size, strips that size continuously without readjusting.
- Compact 3 x 4 x 7 in body at 2 lb, bolts to a bench through four holes.
- Replaceable blade (47020B).

Pro tip from the counter
Set the blade depth on a short offcut before feeding a whole coil. Lower the blade until it just touches the insulation, back the wire out and turn the knob three full turns as the manual describes, then check that the first foot peels cleanly without shiny copper showing. A blade set too deep cuts into copper and dulls fast.
Best for: recovering copper from job-site scrap, small electrical shops, maintenance departments, occasional wire recycling
