Ironworkers and steel erectors need a bar that can drift bolt holes into line and pry members into position without a second tool. The Klein Tools 3241 is a 30-inch round connecting bar forged from hardened steel, with a pointed fit-up end and a straight chisel end. It is built for steel and concrete construction work and made in the USA.
Why ironworkers pick it
- Pointed fit-up end drifts bolt holes into alignment.
- Straight chisel end slides flat between flanges and under plates for prying.
- 30 in length gives extra leverage when positioning steel members.
- Forged, hardened steel for long service life.
- 3/4 in body diameter and 3.2 lb weight.

Pro tip from the counter
When you're working off a beam or a lift, tether the bar before you start. A 3.2 lb steel bar dropped from height is a serious hazard to anyone below, so fit a tool lanyard rated for its weight with a choke or tape-on attachment near the chisel end, where it won't get in the way of the pointed end going into a bolt hole.
Best for: structural steel erection, aligning bolt holes on beams and columns, prying and positioning steel members, concrete forming work
