Klein pliers cover the core electrical-trade grips: linesman for cutting and twisting conductors, side-cutters for flush cuts, long-nose for reach and bending, and pump pliers for adjustable jaw work. Insulated 1000V variants exist for live-work; whether to perform live-work is a decision for a licensed electrician working to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
Common questions
What is the difference between side-cutting and linesman's pliers?
Side-cutters are built primarily for clean flush cuts on copper and aluminum conductors. Linesman's pliers combine cutting jaws with a flat gripping surface for twisting, splicing and pulling, which makes them the everyday electrician's plier.
Are Klein pliers insulated for live work?
Klein makes 1000V-rated insulated pliers tested to IEC 60900 and ASTM F1505. Whether to use them on live circuits is a call for a licensed electrician working to the Canadian Electrical Code, not a property of the tool itself.
Do Klein pliers come with a warranty?
Klein offers a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Normal wear, abuse and modification are excluded. Maple Electric Supply handles Canadian warranty support on Klein tools purchased from us.
