Short runs of light or ventilation, such as a stairwell light, a closet or a quick exhaust purge, rarely need more than a few minutes. The Intermatic FF5M is a single-pole spring-wound countdown timer with a 5 minute maximum that replaces a single-gang wall switch. It has no electronics, needs no neutral, and turns the load off at the end of the cycle. A brushed-metal-look plastic plate comes with it.

Pro tip from the counter
Because the mechanism is spring-driven and needs no neutral, the FF5M is a clean retrofit in older switch boxes that only have a switch loop. There is no need to fish a new cable just to add a timer.
Best for: stairwell and hallway lights, storage closets and janitor rooms, short exhaust fan runs, retrofits in boxes without a neutral
