The Rack-A-Tiers VRHC.AL is a rectangular plastic floor box kit for residential wood floors, fully assembled with an aluminum-finish hinged cover and a 15 A tamper-resistant receptacle already included. It installs from above into a cut opening and secures to the subfloor with wing screws.

Pro tip from the counter
Before cutting the 2-9/16 x 4-5/16 in opening, drill a small pilot hole and check from the basement or ceiling below that you're clear of joists, ductwork and heating pipes. The box hangs 3-5/8 in below the floor surface, so it needs that clear space under the subfloor.
