Heavy extension cords and bulky plug-ins need room behind a closed lid. The Intermatic WP1250C is the deepest cover in Intermatic's double-gang plastic in-use line at 4.75 in, and it is the only one of those models that accepts a #10 AWG cord. It seals a two-gang outdoor box while cords stay plugged in, with a clear vertically hinged lid and six inserts for up to 70 device layouts.
Why electricians pick it

Pro tip from the counter
Check the cord gauge. A #10 AWG heavy-duty extension cord won't pass through the smaller double-gang covers in this series, and this model takes only one cord that size, so a second heavy cord on the other receptacle calls for a different setup.
Best for: heavy-duty extension cord locations, RV and trailer plug-in spots, outdoor equipment with large plugs, two-gang exterior boxes
