A PG 9 nylon cord grip in black, supplied with its O-ring and locknut, for cable or tubing between 0.15 and 0.32 inches. Why the thread designation matters more than the hole size

PG is a European thread standard, not a metric or NPT one. A PG 9 grip will not thread into an NPT hub, will not take an NPT locknut, and cannot be chased with an NPT die. Panel builders order these by the PG number for exactly that reason, and the most commonly returned cord grip at any counter is one that was ordered by the knockout size instead of the thread.

The other half of the order is the cable range. Techspan lists 0.15 to 0.32 inches for this size. A jacket under that range will not be gripped by the seal even with the dome nut fully tightened, and an oversized jacket stops the nut closing far enough to compress the NBR ring at all.
