Detecting plastic parts, powders, pellets or liquid levels takes a sensor that isn't limited to metal targets. The HTM Sensors CCM1-1808P-ARU4 is an M18 shielded capacitive proximity sensor with a 2 to 8 mm sensing range, PNP normally open output and an M12 A-coded 4-pin connector. Controls technicians and OEM builders use it on hoppers, conveyors and packaging lines.

Pro tip from the counter
A PNP output sources positive voltage to the load, so it pairs with sinking-type PLC input cards. Check the input card before ordering; if it expects a sinking (NPN) sensor, this one won't switch it, and you'll want HTM's NPN version of the same body.
