A heavy-duty industrial specification grade duplex receptacle, 15 amp, 250 volt, NEMA 6-15R, two pole, three wire, self-grounding, in brown with a smooth thermoplastic nylon face. It gives you two 240-volt outlets at one device location for smaller shop equipment that does not warrant a 20 or 30 amp connection.
Why the 6-15R configuration matters
A 6-15R takes two hot conductors and a ground, with no neutral. Its blades sit horizontally, which is the whole point: a 120-volt tool with a 5-15P cord cap physically cannot be pushed into it. That keeps somebody from plugging a 120-volt load onto a 240-volt circuit, which is why the configuration exists in the first place. Because there is no neutral in the configuration, do not wire this device expecting to pull 120 volts off one leg. Leviton builds it self-grounding, so the yoke bonds through the mounting strap to a grounded metal box, and it accepts back or side wire with 14-10 AWG conductors.

Pro tip from the counter
Order the mating 6-15P cord caps in the same conversation. Shops put these in, wire them correctly, then discover that every 240-volt tool on the floor came with a 6-20P or a bare lead, and the receptacle sits unused for a month waiting on plugs nobody stocks.
Best for: shop and plant locations feeding two smaller 240-volt single-phase loads from one box, where an industrial grade device and a deliberately non-interchangeable configuration are wanted.
Common questions
Can I plug a regular 120-volt tool into this receptacle?
No, and that is deliberate. The NEMA 6-15R blade pattern is horizontal, so a standard 5-15P cord cap on a 120-volt tool will not physically enter the slots.
Does this receptacle need a neutral conductor?
No. Leviton lists it as 2-Pole, 3-Wire, which is two hot conductors plus a ground. There is no neutral in this configuration, so you cannot derive 120 volts from it.
What does self-grounding actually do here?
Leviton lists the grounding as Self-Grounding, meaning the strap carries riveted ground contacts that bond the yoke to a grounded metal box through the mounting screws.
What size conductors will the terminals take?
Leviton states terminal accommodation of 14-10 AWG with back or side wire termination, and gives a screw terminal torque figure of 14-18 in-lbs.
