Exterior wall lights on stucco or siding need a box that seals to the sheathing without a bead of caulk. The Arlington FR405F is a non-metallic FR Series flanged pan box for exterior fixtures: wide flanges shed air and water, and interchangeable backs plus extension rings fit different wall finish thicknesses. It carries a light 10 lb fixture rating and is not intended for ceiling fans.

Pro tip from the counter

Set the box for the finish before it goes on the wall: flip the back for 5/8 in stucco, add the 1/4 in ring for 7/8 in. Note that usable volume drops to 4.8 cu in at 5/8 in, so a light with a spliced feed-through may not fit at that setting.
