Starting and switching large motors, heaters and feeders takes a contactor built for heavy current and frequent operation. The Techspan LC1FDP500A is an F-Line 3-pole IEC contactor rated 500 A AC-3 (280 kW class) and 700 A AC-1, sold without a coil so you can order the control voltage the panel uses. Techspan rates it up to 400 HP at 480 V and 500 HP at 600 V three-phase.

Pro tip from the counter

Don't size it from the 280 kW figure in the title, which is an IEC rating at around 400 V. On Canadian 600 V or 480 V motors, check the motor's HP and FLA against Techspan's HP table for your voltage, and order the matching LX1FK coil for the control voltage at the same time, since the contactor ships without one.
