A gas pool heater that shuts off at the same moment as the filter pump is left full of hot, still water, which leads to knocking and scale. The Intermatic T101R201 Hydro-King time switch fixes that: it turns the heater off about 20 minutes before the 120 V filter pump stops. It has a 120 V clock, a 40 A SPST filter circuit and a separate heater control circuit in a Type 3R steel enclosure.

Pro tip from the counter
The heater control terminals are a low-current switch meant to break the heater's own control or fireman's switch circuit, not the heater's power supply, and they're rated only 10 A at 125 V. Have your electrician or gas fitter wire them in series with the heater's control loop as the heater manual shows.
