So, for our annual "We Appreciate You" gift, management skipped the gift cards and gave us... this. The Klein Tools backpack. At first, I was miffed. A backpack? Thanks, I already have one. It came free from a tech conference and smells like regret.

Then I opened this thing.

My friends, this is not a backpack. This is a mobile command center. It has 55 pockets. Fifty. Five. I don't even own 55 tools. I've started putting individual snacks in different pockets just to feel like I'm using its full potential. There's a pocket for my tape measure, a pocket for my meter, and a hard-shell "safety glass" pocket that perfectly cradles my morning muffin.

The orange interior is so bright, it's like staring into the sun. It's supposed to help you find tiny screws, but mostly it just highlights how disorganized the rest of my life is.

This bag is tougher than my will to live on a Monday. It's made of "ballistic weave." I dropped it off a ladder (accidentally... mostly) and the pavement got a scratch. The bag just laughed.

My other tools are now unionizing. They refuse to be carried in my old, floppy bag of shame. They demand the structured, padded luxury of the Klein.

I'm pretty sure this backpack is more qualified for my job than I am. It's organized, it's tough, and it shows up ready to work. I've started calling it "Management."

10/10. Would rather have had the cash bonus, but I'll be damned if my tools aren't living in a 5-star hotel on my back.
