How do I pick the right cord-grip cable range?
Measure the cable's outer diameter (not the trade AWG). Arlington cord grips are sold by OD range printed on the spec sheet — the cable OD must fall inside that range for the seal and strain relief to be listed.
Are Arlington cord grips liquid-tight?
Many models are liquid-tight (with an O-ring seal); others are dry-location strain-relief only. The spec sheet lists the environment rating — do not assume liquid-tight without confirming.
Can I use a cord grip on SO cord entering a wet-location enclosure?
Only with a cord grip listed for wet locations, sized to the SO cord's OD, and installed with the sealing ring supplied. Confirm with your licensed electrician that the SO cord itself is approved for the wet-location application per the CEC.
